The calendar reads like three separate things happening in three separate places. It isn't. From the first Thursday in July to the last Saturday in August, almost everything you'd actually leave the house for in Longview happens on or within a block of the 1.2-mile loop around Lake Sacajawea. The park does the work of a downtown for two months, and the small print of the summer is really just how you cycle through it.
That's the useful frame if you already live here. You aren't picking between the Go 4th Festival, the Thursday concerts, and SquirrelFest. You're picking your rhythm across a single eight-week arc that starts noon on July 2 and closes when the folding chairs come off the Lower Columbia College lawn on August 22.
